Nourished skin is resilient skin.
Choosing Your Moisturizer
Which Moisturizing Level should I choose?
Start with how you want your moisturizer to feel. Lower Levels are lighter, while higher Levels become richer, denser, and generally longer lasting.
Your favorite Level may change with the season, weather, humidity, where you're applying it, and what your skin wants that day.
Explore Moisturizing LevelsDo I have to use the same Level all year?
Not at all. Skin doesn't experience January the same way it experiences July. You may prefer a lighter moisturizer during hot, humid weather and something richer during cold, dry weather. You can also use different Levels on different areas of your body.
What if I have oily skin?
Oily skin can still benefit from moisture full of nutrients. If you dislike a heavy or coated feeling, begin with one of our lighter Levels and use only a small amount. Level 1 for your face and Level 3's for your body. Also, look into our Arrow Hydrator - it offers your skin a more balanced feeling.
What if my skin is very dry?
For your body, look toward the richer end of the Moisturizing Level system. Levels 4 and 5 provide a more substantial moisturizing experience, with Level 5 offering our richest everyday body-butter texture.
When your face is ultra dry, the our Face and Eye Creams are the ideal route.
Ingredients & Formulation
What makes Alywillow moisturizers different?
We make our moisturizers from scratch in small batches using a broad palette of plant and mineral ingredients. We don't start with a premade cosmetic base and simply add a few botanical ingredients. Our philosophy is simple: use plants and minerals thoughtfully, keep the formulas concentrated, and leave out ingredients that don't need to be there.
Do Alywillow moisturizers contain synthetic ingredients?
No. Alywillow moisturizers are made without synthetic fragrances, artificial colors, synthetic fillers, or conventional synthetic emulsifiers. Their natural color and aroma come from the ingredients themselves.
Are Alywillow moisturizers vegan, organic, and cruelty-free?
Yes. Our moisturizers are 100% vegan, organic ingredients, and cruelty-free. They are formulated entirely from plant and mineral ingredients.
Do they contain added water or fillers?
Our concentrated moisturizers contain no added water or fillers. Instead of paying for a product largely composed of water, you're getting a concentrated botanical formula designed to be used sparingly. That's one reason a little Alywillow moisturizer goes so far.
Do Alywillow moisturizers contain alcohol or mineral oil?
No. Our moisturizers are made without alcohol, mineral oil, or petroleum-based fillers.
Do Alywillow moisturizers contain nuts?
Most Alywillow moisturizers are formulated without nut-derived ingredients. Our Level 5 moisturizers and eye creams contain coconut and shea butter. No other nuts are in our moisturizers. If you have a known ingredient allergy, always review the complete ingredient list for the individual product before use.
Using Your Moisturizer
Will Alywillow moisturizers clog my pores?
This is an especially common concern with facial moisturizers. Skin naturally produces its own oils, and thoughtfully chosen botanical oils can work beautifully with that natural lipid environment, helping soften the skin and support its moisture barrier without relying on heavy synthetic fillers.
Alywillow moisturizers are formulated with plant oils and botanical ingredients chosen for how they feel and behave on the skin. Because our formulas are concentrated, a little goes a long way — using more does not necessarily moisturize better.
If you are prone to clogged pores or breakouts, choose one of our lighter facial formulas, start with a very small amount, and let your skin tell you what it prefers.
Richer isn't better. The right Moisturizing Level is the one that feels right on your skin.
How much should I use?
Less than you may be accustomed to using with conventional lotion. Alywillow moisturizers are intentionally concentrated. Begin with a small amount; always melt it in your hand first, then spread it over the skin. Add more only if you need it. This is especially important with our richer Levels.
Why doesn't my Alywillow moisturizer feel like regular lotion?
Conventional lotions often rely heavily on water, alcohol, emulsifiers, and many other synthetic ingredients that create the familiar lotion texture. We don't use any of those. Alywillow moisturizers are concentrated botanical formulas, derived from pure plants and minerals, so their textures can feel quite different. Depending on the Level, they may feel water-light, silky like a massage oil, or rich and buttery.
Can I use Alywillow moisturizers on my face?
All of our moisturizers are great for your face, while some are specifically designed for facial care. Because our formulas have different botanical ingredients and purposes, check each product's purpose when choosing a facial moisturizer.
Can I use them on my body?
Yes. Many Alywillow moisturizers are designed for full-body use. Our Level system makes it easy to choose between something light and quick and a richer, longer-lasting moisturizing experience.
Can I use them on my hair or beard?
Many Alywillow moisturizers can be used on hair and beards, as a replacement for conditioners. They add softness, conditioning, and shine. Start with a very small amount, melt in your hands, then rub through your hair. Only the driest hair types will benefit from moisturizers near or on the scalp. Most people prefer them on the hair shaft and ends. With concentrated formulas, it is much easier to add more than to remove too much.
Can they be used for intimate skin comfort?
Some Alywillow moisturizers are versatile enough for external intimate skin care and areas where reducing friction can improve comfort. Follow the directions for each formula, especially when using botanical products on sensitive areas. Unscented is recommended for the most sensitive individuals.
Can Alywillow moisturizers be used for babies?
Some of our exceptionally gentle formulas are commonly chosen by families for simple moisturizing care. Because babies have especially delicate skin, choose an appropriate gentle formula, review its ingredients carefully, and follow the individual product directions.
Can any Alywillow moisturizers be used on dogs?
Some of our multi-use formulas are also used for external coat and skin conditioning on dogs. Not every botanical ingredient appropriate for people is appropriate for other animal, so use only a formula Alywillow specifically identifies as suitable for that purpose.
Natural Variation & Storage
Why does my moisturizer sometimes separate?
Separation can be completely normal in a botanical formula. We don't rely on conventional synthetic emulsifiers simply to force natural ingredients to remain artificially uniform. When a liquid moisturizer separates, a quick shake before use brings the ingredients back together.
Why can the color, aroma, or texture change from one batch to another?
Plants aren't identical from harvest to harvest. Because we rely on botanical ingredients for color, aroma, and texture rather than artificially standardizing every batch, you may notice natural variations. These differences come with working with real plant ingredients.
Are Alywillow moisturizers made fresh?
Yes. We make our moisturizers from scratch in small batches. Small-batch production lets us focus on freshness rather than producing enormous quantities meant to sit in warehouses for long periods.
Do Alywillow moisturizers need to be refrigerated?
No. Alywillow moisturizers do not require refrigeration. Store them at normal household temperatures, approximately 40–80°F, away from excessive heat, direct sunlight, and unusually humid conditions.
How long will the moisturizing effect last?
That depends on the formula, Moisturizing Level, your skin, and your environment. Our lighter Levels generally provide a lighter moisturizing experience, while richer Levels are designed to remain with the skin longer. Botanical humectant ingredients also help attract and hold moisture, supporting skin comfort for hours after application.
