Our Native American ancestors sometimes referred to bites, stings, infections, and other conditions that brought intense heat, burning, pain, and swelling as “fire in the body.” FORTIFY was created in that spirit, blending concentrated botanicals traditionally known as “killer plants” for their powerful cleansing, purifying, and protective qualities. The idea is beautifully simple: fight fire with fire.
Many of the individual botanicals in FORTIFY have a long history of traditional use, while modern research has explored their antimicrobial and other beneficial properties. Over the years, our customers have discovered and shared an extraordinary variety of uses for this potent botanical blend, making FORTIFY one of the most versatile little bottles we create at Alywillow.
Small bottle. A little goes a long way.
A 0.5 oz bottle contains approximately 300 drops, and most concentrated spot applications require only 1 or 2 drops.
FORTIFY is highly concentrated, so more is not necessarily better. Follow the directions for the particular use below. Keep the instruction flyer that comes with your bottle, or bookmark this page so you will always have the recipes nearby.
Turn it into a Spray
When you add FORTIFY to a water spray bottle, it can do so much more.
- For a small spray bottle: 2 oz distilled water + 10 drops FORTIFY
- For a larger spray bottle: 16 oz distilled water + 80 drops FORTIFY

WAYS TO USE FORTIFY
🌬️ Home, Air & Clothing
Freshen & Purify the Air
Place several drops of FORTIFY on a tissue near an air vent, use it in an appropriate diffuser, or mist the room with diluted FORTIFY or DisinfectNOW.
Laundry
Add 5 to 10 drops to a laundry cycle for regular cleaning. Increase to 10 to 20 drops per load when illness or contagious skin conditions are in the household.
Shoes
Place 1 or 2 drops on cotton balls and leave them inside shoes overnight, or mist the inside of the shoes with DisinfectNOW and allow them to dry before wearing.
Everyday Disinfecting
Use DisinfectNOW as an alcohol free botanical spray for hands, clothing, and appropriate surfaces.
🦟 Outdoor Protection
Ticks & Spiders
Customers have long used FORTIFY containing formulas as part of their outdoor routine.
If ticks and spiders are your primary concern, DisinfectNOW already contains the FORTIFY formula in a convenient diluted spray and can be applied to clothing and shoes before going outdoors.
For broader insect protection: add 20 drops FORTIFY to one bottle of our insect repellent, NATIVE SHIELD. Shake well before using.
After a Bite or Sting
For ordinary insect bites and stings, apply 1 drop of FORTIFY to the affected spot, followed immediately by an Alywillow moisturizer or oil.
Customers traditionally use this combination to comfort the local itching, burning, swelling, and irritation that can accompany bites and stings. Minty Relief and Riverflow are especially nice companions when you want cooling comfort.
Suspected venomous spider bite?
FORTIFY can provide local comfort and a more soothing feeling while you arrange appropriate care. You can start with FORTIFY, but black widow and brown recluse bites often require additional medical treatment.
🐕 Using FORTIFY Around Dogs 
Because FORTIFY is a concentrated botanical formula, do not apply concentrated FORTIFY directly to your dog's skin or coat. Instead, make a diluted spray:
Dog Garment Recipe
- Mix in a spray bottle: 10 drops FORTIFY for every 2 oz of water (or use DisinfectNOW).
- Shake well & Spray the diluted mixture onto a removable bandana, hanky, T-shirt, or other garment while it is off your dog. Allow the fabric to dry before putting it on your dog.
- Do not allow your dog to lick or chew the treated fabric.
- Remove the garment if your dog shows any signs of irritation or discomfort. This method is intended for external environmental use and is not a veterinary treatment.
🌱 Skin Spot Applications
FORTIFY is concentrated. When the directions call for applying it directly to the skin, use only the recommended drop or two and follow immediately with an Alywillow moisturizer or oil.
Foot Fungus
Apply 1 or 2 drops to the affected area and follow with an Alywillow moisturizer. Repeat this daily for 6-9 months as fungi can be especially resilient.
Boils, Carbuncles, Cysts & Troubled Spots
Apply 1 or 2 drops of FORTIFY or GoAway daily, as a concentrated spot application, then follow with a moisturizer.
Persistent Acne Bumps
FORTIFY or GoAway may be used as a spot application, followed by the appropriate Alywillow moisturizer, typically Warrior or Sagerow Level 3 or 4. Using our other products in combination with Fortify and GoAway will have the best long-term effects.
Warts
Traditionally used as a concentrated spot application. Apply FORTIFY and/or GoAway to the area and follow with moisturizer. Repeat daily as needed.
Itchy, Troubled Skin
For everyday care, we generally recommend Wildwood, Warrior, or StarBright. FORTIFY may be added as an additional concentrated spot application where appropriate, yet the strength of Fortify isn't normally needed if you are using the other products.
Bedsores & Delicate Problem Areas
Our traditional routine is to cleanse and moisturize with Warrior. DisinfectNOW, or a diluted form of Fortify, may be used as the gentler diluted option on appropriate areas.
🤧 Seasonal Wellness
The aromatic botanicals found in FORTIFY have traditionally been used during cold and flu season. Some customers put a small amount on the soles of their feet or chest and follow with an Alywillow moisturizer, or use FORTIFY in a diffuser as part of their normal seasonal routine.

Before Your First Use
FORTIFY contains a highly concentrated blend of essential oils, and some people may be sensitive to one of its botanicals. If you experience significant irritation, watery eyes, breathing difficulty, or another unexpected reaction, discontinue use. Seek medical attention for serious allergic symptoms. A Few Important Things to Remember
Concentrated means concentrated.
For direct skin applications, generally only 1 or 2 drops are needed.
Follow with oil, not water.
After a concentrated spot application, follow with an Alywillow moisturizer or oil. Water can spread undiluted essential oils over a larger area.
Keep away from eyes.
Do not intentionally apply FORTIFY in or around the eyes. If you accidentally get it in your eyes, rinse with oil from your kitchen, such as olive, sunflower, avocado, or coconut oil. Fortify acts like an oil, and water will only spread it. Do not use water. If pain or irritation persists, seek medical guidance.
External use only.
Do not consume FORTIFY.

FORTIFY is intended for external botanical care and traditional use. Severe pain, spreading infection, significant allergic reactions, venomous bites, difficulty breathing, rapidly worsening symptoms, or other potentially serious conditions require appropriate medical attention.
