Common Lotion Ingredients

Conventional lotions are typically water-based formulas that often include alcohol, synthetic ingredients, added colors, fragrances, and preservatives, along with a relatively small amount of petroleum-derived moisturizing agents. Artificial emulsifiers are then used to force these ingredients to blend into a stable product.

While lotions can feel comforting at first, they are generally designed to create a temporary sensation of moisture by forming a light surface layer on the skin. That initial softness often fades as the water component evaporates, which is why reapplication is often necessary.

Alywillow moisturizers are formulated differently. Each formula is a concentrated blend of pure plant oils, botanical infusions, and natural waxes, chosen for their integrity and performance in daily use. Made without synthetic thickeners or surface-coating agents, the ingredients in our moisturizers are selected for their behavior on the skin and for their long-standing, traditional uses.

Because they are not diluted with water, a small amount spreads easily, and customers often describe them as feeling more present and longer-lasting than conventional lotions, without the heavy or slippery residue associated with water-based products.

Our products are made entirely from plants, so you may notice natural variations in color, scent, or texture from batch to batch. Highly uniform color, scent, and texture are typically achieved through artificial replication, which is not part of our approach.

Versatile and Nourishing

Just like our cleansers, many of our moisturizers can be used on your hair with excellent results. Level 3 is best for flyaway or fine hair, Level 4 is particularly good for dry or frizz-prone textures, and Level 5 can be applied to hair that feels too dry and damaged.
